Learning is a continuous process in life, not just professionally but in personal life as well. Although our thought process, approach and understanding of different scenarios vary from time to time, there are two principles that have remained constant in my life that I stand by. The first principle I stand by is defined by two simple words: “you can!”, that is if you dream something big and give your best to follow that dream. My second principle is “Prepare for Failure”; I believe that if you haven’t faced failure then you aren’t taking enough risks, which means that you are not giving your best to follow your dream. When you fail you tend to learn from your mistakes, adding to your list of experiences and helping you grow in terms of intellect and making you wiser.
The story of Patracode and its journey so far is guided by these two principles, which has helped me and our team bring it to the level of growth that it has achieved in these 5 years. We are still constantly evolving and will continue to do so as we achieve greater milestones, and ever increasing team, customer base, and offerings.

Intellectual Property are most intangible form of property which you may build up with just intellect and minimal resources, quiet differential with respect to any other property like gold, land, etc. Law has ensured that if you have sweat to develop it, you should be recognized for it before your sweat reaches your brow. However, Intellectual Property are generally civil in nature and to keep them enforced, the owner of it has to take cognizance to publicize it and take appropriate measures provided by administrative and legal machinery in case of infringement.
As we are progressing, the owners of Intellectual Property Rights are moving worldwide and seeking protection in various jurisdictions. Such globalization have mandated use of automated process to be used in the process of scrutiny, filing, management and maintenance of the Intellectual Property Rights. Also, complex scenario of creating IPRs and commercializing them have increased licencing, cross licencing, mergers and acquisitions across the organizations, which leads to involvement of other market regulator in picture like Competition laws.
In the current complex and global scenario, an IP Attorney is not just a lawyer who is formalizing IP applications and prosecuting them, rather he has to get involved in various other activities like merger and acquisition, drafting appropriate agreement and contracts, handling competition laws, and various other such aspects of law. In addition, he has to play role of a Business consultant to the organization, so that he can use the intellectual property and other legal tools to keep organizations immune and growing. His role is further extended to be a technical consultant, so that he can be involved from the initial phases of invention harvesting and further stages of productization to create a unique market position for the organization.
In general, initial precautions in IPR paradigms helps to prevent huge legal costs in later phases. Considering that, treat your IPR Attorney as your legal, business and innovation consultant.
